Surprise! I know what you’re thinking! “Wait…didn’t she retire her blog?” And yes, you’re right. I did. But every once in a while, something so special comes along that it’s worth stepping out of retirement for.
I’m thrilled to announce our Third Annual “Your Dress, Their Dream” Prom Dress Drive! This charitable event started before I officially signed off, and the impact it had on young girls in our community was beyond anything I imagined. Since 2022, we’ve collected nearly one thousand dresses to help make prom and homecoming dreams come true for so many teens.
So here I am again popping back into your inbox, not to revive the blog, but to use this platform for something that really matters.
And this year, we’re doing something new. In addition to formal and cocktail dresses, we’re also collecting tuxedos, suits, sport coats, and blazers to help young men feel just as confident and celebrated. Grayson Shackelford, a fantastic TCU student and Fort Worth native, is spearheading this new addition, and I’m so excited to see it grow.
If you’ve got something gathering dust in the back of your closet, now’s the perfect time to give it new life, while also giving a teen an unforgettable night. Even more special, students from the Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Fort Worth will get the first opportunity to shop these donated items before they’re distributed more broadly in the community.
I’m so honored to co-host this event alongside Gloria Vazquez Starling, Erma Lee, and Lynn Hammer. These incredible women are helping make it all happen.
Thanks for letting me sneak back into your world for a good cause. And no, the blog’s not coming back, but the heart behind it never left.
